New England Colonies
In the New England colonies there was a guy John Winthrop and his followers were called the puritans. They wanted everybody to follow their religious beliefs. They formed a church to practice stuff from the roman catholic church. For examples like their music and houses. They were all educated and successfull people. the puritans ran their conlony. they had so much power. They wanted everyone to follow their beliefs and they believed that the woman always had to be with a man and can't be alone. Thomas Hooker left the massachuttes bay because the govener had to much power.

The Middle colonies and the Native Americans didn't get along so well. This was because the Middle Colonies forced Native Americans to be slaves. The Middle colonies forced the enslaved Native Americans to work on plantations , like they did African slaves later on. The Middle Colonies traded for Native Americans to be slaves. The Native American slaves weren't treated good.

Native American slavery ended in 1730. Colonists found that it was to easy for Native Americans to escape. Plus the wars killed many colonists who were involved in the slave trade. Also many Native Americans died from the wars as well. The surviving Native Americans joined the Choctaw, the Creek, and the Catawba for protection.

The Native American Slaves were traded for African Slaves. This was because the Africans can do much more than Native Americans, and couldn't escape easily. Also, the Africans were immune to the diseases, and used to the climate, while Native Am
ericans weren't. Enslaved Africans were more obedient. there was already slavery going on in Africa, so Africans had experience.

Southern Colonies
The Native Americans and colonists in the southern colonies did not get along well. According to the letters from British settlers, the Creek Indians (Native Americans of the South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee area) were very violent and a “mad People” according to some letters. In one case, a woman was taken prisoner by the Indians while she was pregnant. She had the child while she was still a prisoner, when the mother was released the Creek Indians wouldn’t let the child go with her because the little girl was born in the camp. A letter from John Sevier to the Creek Indians was written asking for the little girl’s release, “I have no doubt you will make the proper enquiry and have the Girl sent in either to this place or ninty Six--“ (Sevier 1-3) It is unclear whether or not the girl was ever returned.
In May of 1760 Henry Ellis (from Georgia) wrote a letter to the Creek Indians about some French traders that were killed by their men. Previously, the Creek Indians and the settlers of Georgia had made a treaty stating that if the natives had a problem they would come to the English in a friendly manner to request that the problem be fixed. This was not what happened. Mr. Ellis requested in his letters that the chief come to the settlement so that they could peaceably discuss ways to fix whatever problem that the natives had. “If you have any real cause to be dissatisfied with the white People I desire you will let me know it to the End that it may be removed and not suffer your mad People to go on killing our Traders as Frenchsay they have done.” (Ellis 1-2) This letter shows that in some places in the South, colonists and natives got along well, but others were not so lucky.
Colonists and Native Americans constantly came in contact with each other. Sometimes the colonists and natives got along, sometimes they didn’t and sometimes they just ignored each other. No matter how friendly or unfriendly the colonists and the natives were the population of the Native Americans declined as the colonists came to power.
